Sky lanterns originated from Thailand and are know there as Khoom Fay. There are many cheaper versions that are made in China but these are usually of a poor quality. Our lanterns are top quality night lights made from a reputable manufacturer in Thailand. They are made from bamboo, rice paper & rolled wax paper and are therefore biodegradeable .
When the wax paper is lit the air inside the lantern heats up and causes the lantern to rise. They can reach a height of 500 - 1000 metres before the light extinguishes and the lanterns float gently back down to earth like a parachute. When in the sky the Sky Lanterns can be seen for miles around.
Before lighting the wax paper messages can be written on the lanterns making them ideal for all celebrations and also a touching tribute at funerals.
